Safira, mascot of the Plants & Cats project

About the Project

The Plantas e Gatos (Plants & Cats) project was born from an intense, loving, and transformative experience with our cat Safira, an extremely intelligent Siamese who even won over those who claimed not to like cats. She became our inseparable companion and created this unexpected and special bond.

In 2024, Safira began to show kidney problems and had to undergo several treatments, including hospital stays, hydrotherapy, and esophageal tube feeding — which she wore with elegance under a pink bandana. Her routine required constant attention: feedings every three hours, frequent monitoring, and, above all, a lot of love. She accompanied us to work, on trips, and became an active part of our daily life.

Despite all efforts, Safira left us in August 2024, leaving a huge void. But her legacy remains: the affection, the memories, and the inspiration to create a safe environment for our other cats — Romilda, Queixada, and Feijão (Romilda’s son). We also honor Mística, Queixada’s sister, who has also passed.

From this practical and emotional need — to adapt our home with plants that wouldn’t put our cats at risk — this project was born. Plants & Cats is a tribute to Safira and to all those who remain with us. Every piece of content, every image, carries not only information but also respect, memory, and love.
